A bi-metal controller with its analog measuring behavior reacts to temperature changes only with a time delay. This results in greater temperature fluctuations and higher energy consumption.

The front mounted electronic sensor reacts very quickly to temperature differences. Intelligent algorithms use PWM control behavior to ensure that the setpoint/actual temperature in the room always remains the same. This leads to lower energy consumption and thus to cost savings.
With the new generation of 2-wire technology, old bi-regulators can be replaced problem.
